Never Stop Dreaming; the sky is the limit
Big Idea:
Site-specific public art can turn shared history into inspiration for the future, helping young minds take flight by connecting learning, dreaming, and play.
A Flight toward Possibility
Suspended by the Capitol Hill Library’s entrance, three oversized, origami-inspired planes appear to glide through the air. Their bold red, orange, and blue forms recall the simple joy of folding a paper airplane—but here, they become symbols of lift, aspiration, and creative momentum.
The artwork is rooted in the site’s remarkable past: Oklahoma’s first airplane flight took place on these very grounds in 1910. By translating this moment into colorful, geometric sculptures, Never Stop Dreaming bridges aviation history with playful design, inviting visitors—children especially—to step into a space where knowledge and imagination take flight together.
Rooted in Local Identity
Commissioned through Oklahoma City’s 1% for Art ordinance, the project reflects the layered identity of the Capitol Hill neighborhood, a historically Hispanic and deeply community-centered area. With references to aviation, education, and the area’s rich Hispanic heritage, the “origami-look” design merges disciplines—math, science, art—honoring the library’s role as a place of growth while casting shadows of possibility: one of cultural pride, curiosity, and movement.
